The best way to start coaching is by learning from other more experienced coaches. If you are interested in giving it a try, speak to your club and they will be able to suggest ways you can assist, help out and receive mentoring, plus suggest the best training to complete. This number is given to you after you have entered your first Badminton Australia sanctioned tournament. If you have played in a BA sanctioned tournament before, search for your name on our National Player ID Number masterlist which can be found here. If you have played in an international BWF sanctioned tournament, your National Player ID number should be your BWF ID. This is also the number saved in your TournamentSoftware profile, under the section ‘Member ID’ before you enter online in any BA sanctioned tournament. If you think there may be duplicates in the system, or if you need help finding your National Player ID number contact ausnationalrankings@badminton.org.au
Badminton Australia does not have the admin access to merge accounts in TournamentSoftware. We can, however, merge results in the BA National Rankings so all your ranking points appear correctly under your ranking profile. Please email ausnationalrankings@badminton.org.au with the exact details of the player ID numbers, tournament results, and player names if you have found missing, incorrect, or duplicate ranking points in the BA National Rankings.

NOTE that you need to submit this form each time you enter an international tournament hosted outside Australia. For local international events, such as Bendigo International or Sydney International, you need to enter via Tournamentsoftware.com in the ‘Australian Entries Only’ event. If this is the first time you are entering a BWF International tournament, then you will also need to apply for a BWF ID number.

If you are a Para Badminton player, entering ‘Partner required’ will be accepted for an international tournament. If you are NOT a Para Badminton player, you need to nominate a doubles partner in your BA International Entry Jotform submission, with the following details about your partner:

– If your partner is Australian, they also need to submit the BA Entry Jotform. International doubles entries for non-para players who enter as ‘partner required’ will not be accepted.
Head to the BWF Corporate website, in the section ‘Calendar’ and look up the tournament you wish to enter. Click on the name of the tournament and you should see a Prospectus document. The Prospectus should be added to the BWF website a couple of months prior to the entry deadline for that event, and contains helpful information for players.
The tournament Prospectus should confirm method of payment from the host. If they accept cash, then this is the preferred method. If they do not, Badminton Australia may be required to make payment on your behalf, in which case we need you to email baentryofficers@badminton.org.au and request that this payment be made. BA will on-charge the cost of entry fees for players we have made payment for after we have completed payment in an equivalent AUD amount (if the entry fees were charged in an international currency; normally this is USD).

Please complete Badminton Australia’s BWF ID Transfer application form here. There is a one-off admin fee of $45 for players who are transferring their BWF ID number in or out of Badminton Australia.
The ‘BWF General Competition Regulations, Section 6. International Representation’ guidelines should confirm whether you are eligible to compete in International Representative events like the continental championships. If you are not an Australian citizen, you may still be eligible to compete as an Australian player in the Oceania Championships IF your BWF ID number has been registered to Badminton Australia for a minimum of 3 years prior to the championships that you wish to compete in.
If you are an Australian player entered in an international tournament, and you wish to withdraw your entry, email baentryofficers@badminton.org.au as soon as you wish to be withdrawn. There are strict fines imposed by host countries for late withdrawals, and larger fines are even bigger for players who are no-shows.

Opportunities to play in social competitions will be organised by clubs or states and territories so its best to get in touch with them.
In badminton, you are considered a veteran player from 35 years old, and there are various opportunities at a local, state and territory and national level to play. Get in touch with your club to find out more or you can take a look at the BA calendar.
No prior badminton experience is required. Shuttle Smash is designed for beginners and is suitable for children with no previous exposure to the sport.
Complete the Shuttle Smash provider form to register your interest. Once approved, you’ll recieve access to lesson plans, marketing materials, and equipment purchasing options.
The Australian Sports Commission provides funding directly to elibigle schools as part of Sporting Schools grants each term. Schools choose from the range of affiliated sports. For badminton, Teachers can either choose to deliver the sport themselves, in which case they will be sent all the required materials and link to online training, or they can request for a coach-delivered program.
Once the program has been completed, the school uploads the invoices for all costs involved for coaching, equipment, and resources in the acquittals process to receive their Sporting Schools grant funding. Please note in some cases, schools must pay upfront and will receive the costs back.
Badminton Australia will invoice the Sporting Schools booking contact for your school. Please advise Badminton Australia if there is a more relevant email contact, such as your school’s finance department that should receive the invoice.
All coach delivered Sporting Schools programs are organised by our State and Territory member organisation. You will need to contact them to discuss the details the details of a booking and finalise costs.
Once you have submitted a program request you can no longer make changes. Please contact participation@badminton.org.au with your school’s name, the term the booking is in and what the issue is or what you need us to update.
The BWF online learning portal is a separate platform to the BWF Shuttle Time website, and you will need a separate account for each. If you have created new logins and are still having issues, please contact us at participation@badminton.org.au.
Badminton’s has a three step process for independent providers.
Firstly you will need to register onto Officials HQ.
Secondly, complete the Badminton Australia safety assessent form.
Thirdly, if you receival approval to proceed we will send your information to the relevant state and territory for endorsement.
