Badminton Australia

While sport hasn’t always been the most welcoming environment for the LGBTQIA+ community, Badminton Australia fosters inclusion, and we have a commitment to support participants, athletes, coaches, officials and volunteers, providing a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment for everyone involved in our sport.

Badminton Australia will not tolerate any form of homophobia, biphobia, transphobia, bullying, harassment or vilification. This extends from the court right through to our boardroom. Truly inclusive sport cannot be accomplished by a few; it must be done in partnership. We believe that diversity brings strength, and we celebrate diversity and differences within our sport.

We hope you haven’t, but we offer a safe place for anyone to raise concerns about behaviour they’ve witnessed or experienced in our sport. We have adopted the National Integrity Framework. For more information about our policies, procedures and complaint handling processes please refer to this Sport Integrity section.

In 2023 Badminton Australia released its LGBTQIA+ Inclusion Policy and over the last few years has participated in the PSI National survey to continue identifying areas for improvement.

Badminton Australia will continue to seek advice from Pride In Sport, the Australian Human Rights Commission and LGBTQIA+ organisations on how we can continue to improve inclusion for everyone.
